About us aims at providing you with a brief introduction about myself as a travel photographer and the succession of events that led to the creation of ArtTeeShop.

Hello Everyone

I Am
Daniel
Moore

My friends call me Dan or Danny, so feel free to call me whichever one you like best. Only a handful of people know me as Jupurulla. I was adopted by the Jupurulla family in the Tanami Desert of Central Australia while making a photo reportage that lasted for three unbelievable months of my life. On Sundays, we were on excursion day. Men would go hunting for big game while women would dig for some water for tea on the dry river bed, hunt for small game and collect wild fruits. For reasons of space, I can't share all those experiences with you, but what I would like you to take home is that I met the friendliest and most loving people on earth.

Not long after this I felt extremely rewarded when part of that photo reportage found its way to the collection of several art galleries, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales (Sydney), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne), and the Australian National Gallery (Canberra). All in all, this was an unbelievable experience, comparable only to my expedition to the Amazon jungle and the month-long journey to Easter Island.

Australian Aboriginal Artist

The Beauty of

Australian
Aboriginal Art

Unarguably one of the most recognised forms of Australian art, Aboriginal dot paintings are highly valued worldwide as being a unique and integral part of Australian Indigenous culture. The story behind the meaning behind these dot paintings is both interesting and captivating, with several theories as to how they came about. One thing that is certain is that these works are influenced by sacred rituals and secret practices that reflect the earliest period of this ancient culture. Aboriginal dot paintings have both an artistic and anthropological significance, and nowadays are an important form of expression as well as a substantial way of income for many remote Indigenous communities. The Australian Aboriginal culture is about 60-80,000 years old, making it the longest surviving culture in human history and the longest-running art culture.

About ArtTeeShop

At the turn of the century, I was introduced to the concept of e-commerce while making the conversion from analog to digital photography at the University of California Santa Cruz. That opened up a whole new world to me and led me to my first experience in cyberspace: a website about travel in South America. However, it didn't materialize as expected, it became more like a travelogue than an e-commerce site. Looking for ways to integrate the Arts with an e-commerce site, the project finally took shape a few years ago when the name ArtTeeShop came to mind and started a little online shop. Today I am pleased to introduce you to the standalone version of it. If you are an art-lover I think you will have a great time browsing around. Thank you for being here!

If you are short of time, the quickest way to grasp the content of ArtTeeShop is to visit the List of Artists.

This is a work-in-progress where we are gradually adding more painters an illustrators, so you are likely to find your preferred artist with a single click.
